My Prayer Partner

It's been a while since I visited this particular segment in my blogger account.

I don't think I will ever have a better explanation why our last series in the small group did not work out. As my Dad would always say, "Less talk, Less mistakes." Simply put, it did not work out. No use of crying over spilled milk. So let's move on.

Now, I'd like to write something about a very special person who became close to my heart even if we are distance apart. Her name is Shailene Caparas.

If you ask me when exactly did I first meet Shai, I would be so clueless but I'm pretty sure that I met her at THY Marketplace in 2006. It was our friend Raprap who brought her along one Thursday evening.

She was then working with SGV & Co., assigned in a cluster that handles the banking sector. Her last client prior her migration to Canada was Allied Bank. That I'm so sure because we had a send-off party in Allied Building, Makati City before she left in 2007.

During her stint in TM, Shai was faithful in attending our weekly gathering. As weeks went by, she became part of the JAG circle. And that's how I got to know her better--a little better. We never had so much time together compared with the others, but I knew in my heart she was extraordinary. For me her life spelled God's grace and humility. Shai accomplished a lot of things and she excels in everything she does, but she never boasts about it. She is always careful to give God the glory and honor for all her successes.

One thing that made my heart drew closer to Shai was her steadfastness in prayer. She's one of the few people who drew me closer to God because of their gift to intercede for others. Her prayer life is unparalleled. I admit, I can't pray like her. She's not like one of your friends whom you ask for prayers and the moment you part ways your prayer request has been forgotten. No. When Shai commits to pray with you and for you, she will really move heaven and earth to pray for you.

When Shai left for Canada my heart was broken. While a part of me was happy to know that she's going to reunite with her mom, another part of me was sad for I know that our friendship will be tested by distance and time. But after a couple of years, I realized I was wrong.

Shai never left.

Even with the long distance and difference in time zones, Shai never fails to pursue our relationship. She is always there to hear me out...and yes, to faithfully pray for me. She is always ready to reach out everytime I need encouragement and faithful to give support to what God is doing in and through my life. She is my prayer warrior who never leaves me out in the battle.

Shai and I made a commitment to be accountable to one another. And God honored that spiritual protection. Our personal struggles and pain are always lifted up in prayers and our joys and victories are always celebrated.

I thank the Lord every time I remember Shai. Her love for God is very contagious and her faith challenges mine. Her dreams and desires are very inspiring.

I believe that the Lord is preparing Shai for something bigger and greater than what she could possibly dare ask or think. And it will be our Great God who will accomplish His plans for her life. Her life is a spring of living water and a joy to others. I pray God will give her heavenly wisdom and strength that will enable her to fulfill her destiny in Christ.

I know one day God will bring us together and what He had began in us He will be faithful to complete.

Thanks Shai for the trust and for your friendship. You are indeed a treasure worth keeping for a lifetime. I pray that God will continue to water our relationship may it bear fruit that will bless others and give glory to the Lord.

Talk to you later and see you soon.
